In a unanimous 5 to 0 vote by Mayor and Council in 2021, Mr. Kamali assumed the role of City Manager, following years of serving as the City's Director of Public Works.
During his tenure as Director of Public Works, Mr. Kamali secured close to $1,000,000 in total grant revenue, generated four consecutive years of operation budget surpluses, and successfully completed a wide range of improvement projects throughout the City.
Prior to joining the City of Mount Rainier, Mr. Kamali spent two decades in the private sector working as the CEO of a company that managed multi-million-dollar water and wastewater projects for international clients including the World Bank. Mr. Kamali also has previous experience in the public sector working as an Engineer for the Texas Department of Transportation.
Mr. Kamali serves as the Chief Administrative Officer of the City, responsible to the Mayor and Council for the administration of all City affairs. Currently, Mr. Kamali spearheads a wide range of infrastructure projects in the City notably including the renovation of the Potts Hall Welcome Center, Memorial Park Streetscape Project, and 31st Street and Perry Street Improvements Project.
