In August, the Mount Rainier Arts Commission (MRAC) sought artists who are residents of or maintain studio space in Mount Rainier, MD to feature in its 2022 public art project in Mount Rainier. Working with local government, MRAC will utilize city-owned decorative lamp posts to highlight the city's creative talent. Part of the Gateway Arts District, Mount Rainier is home to over 150 art studios that contribute to the enrichment of the community.

MRAC was seeking either existing or newly created artwork to publicly display on banners that will hang on lamp posts throughout the City for a period of two years, for which each artist will receive an honorarium of $600. The two-year period begins with the installation of banners by the City. Each artist will be limited to one piece of artwork, as our goal is to be as inclusive as possible and display a variety of pieces.
