Designed by the Low Income Development Center (LIDC) and funded through the American Relief Program Act (ARPA), the Newton Street (34th Street to 37th Street) Project aims to transform Newton Street into a green street that harmonizes innovative environmental design with the needs of our community. These features are intended to enhance our neighborhood's safety and sustainability.

Construction for the Newton Street Project, spanning 34th Street to 37th Street, started in August 2025. NZI Construction has been awarded the project. Work was temporarily suspended in November 2025 due to cold weather conditions. The project is currently approximately 80 percent complete, with remaining work, including roadway resurfacing, landscaping enhancements, and the installation of traffic-calming measures, scheduled to resume in the spring once weather conditions allow. Upon completion, the project will improve roadway conditions, pedestrian safety, and neighborhood aesthetics.
