ONGOING PROJECTS


Intersection of 31st and Perry Street Project

The Mitigation and Road Improvement Project on the intersection of Perry Street and 31st Street is expected to significantly reduce flooding and erosion in the area by capturing a large amount of runoff from Eastern Ave, thereby improving the health and quality of life in the City.

Newton Street Project

The project aims to convert Newton Street to a green street based on the concept plan by consultant, Low Income Development Center (LIDC), in 2023.

The City of Mount Rainier is committed to making our streets and roadways walkable, bikeable, sustainable, and safer.

34th Street Mural Arts Project

The City recognizes the power of public arts in revitalizing its downtown core and increasing economic activity. 


COMPLETED PROJECTS


Commercial District and Varnum Street Facade Improvement Project

Funded by DHCD, the project revitalizes the City's commercial corridors by updating storefront facades. 

3510 Rhode Island Avenue Mural Project

Spearheaded by the City of Mount Rainier Arts Commission, the project brings dynamic public art to the heart of the City’s downtown core, adding to the growing collection of murals throughout the City.

Memorial Park Streetscape Project

The Memorial Park Streetscape Project involves the Design and Build of the 3300‐3400 block of Mount Rainier.

Mural Arts Project

As part of the city’s efforts to revitalize its downtown core, the Department of Economic Development leads a mural arts project to create vibrant artwork on 3416 Rhode Island Avenue, Mount Rainier.

Police Station Basement Renovation

The City received a Bond Bill for $300,000 from the State to renovate the Police Station basement. The project includes the planning, design, and renovation of the basement, which will be used as Public Safety Training and Workout Center.

Potts Hall Welcome Center

The Potts Hall Welcome Center Project will create the new Mount Rainier Potts Hall Welcome Center.

Richardson Park

The Department of Public Works is developing a proposed project to revitalize and renovate Frederick Richardson Memorial Park on 31st Street.
