The Mount Rainier Arts Commission is dedicated to providing insight and leadership for enhancing the visual and artistic experience throughout the City of Mount Rainier while maintaining a commitment to quality and a positive impact on the community.
With the focus on highlighting public and business assets of Mount Rainier, these artistic experiences enrich our community with contemporary art, providing lasting inspiration for the Mount Rainier Community.
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) educates volunteers about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. CERT offers a consistent, nationwide approach to volunteer training and organization that professional responders can rely on during disaster situations, which allows them to focus on more complex tasks.
The Mount Rainier Community Garden Committee helps manage an Organic Garden devoted to building a welcoming, inclusive, and accessible community through veggies, fruits, and flowers! The Community Garden is located on 31st Street between Windom and Arundel.
The Mount Rainier Design Review Board (DRB) is established to advise and assist the Council on design-related issues including, but not limited to, fence, retaining wall, public plantings, construction proposals, building alterations, and regulations of design issues. Members of the DRB consist of five City residents who are appointed by Council, with at least one member being an architect.
The Ethics Commission interprets the Ethics Article of the City Code, reviews Financial Disclosure Statements, and issues Advisory Opinions. The Ethics Commission also aims to hear and decide any complaint regarding an alleged violation of the Ethics Ordinance, to ensure that public officials and employees perform their duties with only the best interests of the City and its residents in mind.
The Mount Rainier Green Team works to create a healthier, more livable and sustainable city for the residents, businesses and the community. We believe we can achieve sustainable outcomes through community participation. The Green Team works to leverage the energy and leadership of the residents of the City to decrease their environmental footprint and create a better future for all. We work on issues related to recycling, trash clean-ups, clean waterways, native plants, improved parks, community education, composting, plastics reduction, and many others! The Mount Rainier Board of Elections was established with the charge to oversee the election procedures and the voting rights within the City of Mount Rainier. The MRBOE is responsible for tasks that support a fair and transparent election process. The responsibilities include but are not limited to:

The Mixed-Use Town Center Design Review Committee is the official name given to a group of municipal representatives, residents, and business / property owners who review applications for, and make recommendations on, exterior renovations and new development in Mount Rainier's Mixed-Use Town Center Zone. This zone extends along Rhode Island Avenue from the city limits at Eastern Avenue into the 3400 block, and along 34th Street from the 3700 block into the 4000 block. It also includes part of Bunker Hill Road.
The Mount Rainier Recreation Committee aims to facilitate multi-generational recreational opportunities in the areas of sports, appreciation of our natural environment and the arts. The committee supports the work of activity-specific recreational committees and ad hoc interest groups as needed. The Committee is the steward for the City of Mount Rainier recreational resources, ensuring that residents have full access and take full advantage of our neighborhood treasures.

The City of Mount Rainier Tree Commission is a voluntary body composed of residents in Mount Rainier. The Tree Commission has four main functions:
The Tree Commission consists of at least five and no more than seven members, all residents of the City of Mount Rainier, appointed by the Mayor with the approval of City Council.

The Youth Council will provide an opportunity for City youth to learn about local government and have a voice, and will provide an opportunity for younger members of the community to build their leadership skills and community network.
The Council will serve the youth of Mount Rainier by informing the City government of the needs and wishes of the youth, and by planning and implementing social, educational, cultural, and recreational activities for the youth.
The charge of the Mount Rainier Youth Scholarship Committee is to oversee the annual scholarship and to ensure the timely and fair disposition of scholarship funds. The committee is also charged with publicizing and soliciting applications and making decisions based on the applicants' responses.
