Thanksgiving Food Basket Distribution

The Thanksgiving Food Basket Distribution Program is an annual initiative by the City of Mount Rainier to provide food assistance to local families in need. Originally funded through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), the program was created to support residents facing financial challenges, particularly during difficult times such as economic downturns or government transitions.

The City's ongoing commitment to support its residents, the initiative continues beyond its initial ARPA funding. Each year, residents in need can pre-register to receive a Thanksgiving basket filled with essential holiday foods, ensuring that families have a meal to share and a reason to give thanks.

In addition to providing baskets, the program relies on community donations and volunteers, fostering a spirit of giving and togetherness throughout Mount Rainier. The City remains dedicated to ensuring that no neighbor goes without this Thanksgiving, strengthening the community through care and compassion.

Eligibility:

  • Must be a Mount Rainier resident
  • One basket per household/address

Registration:

Residents must pre-register to receive a Thanksgiving food basket. Those who have already registered through local schools or senior communities should not register again using the City’s online form.

One basket per household, one per address, will be strictly enforced to ensure that all eligible residents have the opportunity to receive a basket.

Registration will close once the number of baskets for distribution has been reached.

Residents must provide proof of residency when picking up their basket. Please present a government-issued ID or a bill showing your current address.
