Application for The Maryland Homeowner Assistance Fund is now open to Marylanders who are struggling to pay their mortgage or other housing costs due to Covid-19 financial hardships.
As stated on the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development's (DHCD) website, "The program will create a long-term sustainable and affordable mortgage as opposed to short-term assistance without a clear outcome."
Programs specific to the homeowner's needs are outlined on the website. For application and eligibility, please visit the DHCD's website.

(Closed) On March 4, 2021, Prince George's County relaunched its Emergency Rental Assistance Program. The program "offers relief to landlords on behalf of renters and tenants experiencing financial difficulties due to the COVID-19 pandemic."
Owners, landlords, or property managers holding a valid rental license with occupied rental units are eligible to apply for emergency rental assistance through the County program.
Tenants may apply directly only if their landlord will not apply for funding on their behalf or if the tenant is only applying for utility assistance.
To learn more about the County program and application process, visit the program website.
(Closed) In 2020, the City of Mount Rainier coordinated with Prince George's County to distribute federal funding made available through the CARES Act. All available funds were distributed in 2020.
The purpose of this federally funded program was to provide rental and food assistance to eligible residents of the City who were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Approved residents received a one-time payment of $1,000 toward their rental balance. Payments were sent directly to leasing offices.
If more rental assistance funds become available through the City of Mount Rainier, this page will be updated accordingly.
