The City of Mount Rainier will host a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to mark the completion of its largest infrastructure investment to date—the renovation and transformation of the historic Potts Hall into the new Potts Hall Welcome Center. The ceremony will take place on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at 1 Municipal Pl, Mount Rainier, MD.
Constructed in 1909, Potts Hall has served as a cornerstone of civic life in Mount Rainier for more than a century.
The City began the nearly $7 million renovation project in 2023, preserving the historic structure while adapting it to meet modern municipal needs. The completed Potts Hall Welcome Center includes a new double-height lobby that connects the landmark building to the existing City Hall, creating a unified and accessible structure. The project also includes a state-of-the-art Council Chamber and improving public access to local government. The Welcome Center will also serve as a prominent landmark supporting Mount Rainier’s role as a gateway community to the nation’s capital.
