The City of Mount Rainier proudly announces the completion of the largest capital improvement project, the renovation of historic Potts Hall/Welcome Center. This nearly $7 million investment upgrades one of the City’s oldest buildings while creating a more welcoming, accessible, and service-focused facility for the community.
Construction began in March 2023 under the leadership of City Manager Kourosh Kamali, with strong support from Mayor Celina Benitez and the Mount Rainier City Council. The project features a new two-story lobby that seamlessly connects City Hall and Potts Hall/Welcome Center, establishing a unified primary entrance to all City administrative offices.
City Administrative Offices will begin operating from City Hall, located at One Municipal Pl, Mount Rainier, MD, on December 15, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with a daily lunch closure from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. The City’s Social Services Coordinator will also begin operating from City Hall beginning December 15.
The City will host a Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to celebrate this milestone, with details to be announced soon.
