MD 201 (Kenilworth Avenue) Pedestrian Safety Action (PSAP) Plan Project

Mount Rainier News Posted on November 21, 2025

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (SHA) is updating the community on progress for the Pedestrian Safety Action Plan (PSAP) along a 3.5-mile segment of MD 201 (Kenilworth Avenue) between 52nd Avenue and Good Luck Road/Campus Drive in Prince George’s County.

In December 2024, SHA held a public informational workshop at Bladensburg Elementary School, where attendees helped identify pedestrian, bicyclist, and roadway safety challenges. Using that input, the project team has begun developing potential safety improvements.

Key Points Heard from the Community

  1. The project team will continue to incorporate all public comments received so far into the design process.
  2. SHA plans to share improvement concepts at another public informational workshop expected in early 2026.
  3. Feedback from that workshop will help guide the project toward final design.

Community members are encouraged to visit the Project Portal page for updates and  opportunities for public comment:
