The City of Mount Rainier is proud to announce its annual Thanksgiving Food Basket Distribution Program, an initiative dedicated to supporting local families in need. The program continues this year to ensure residents facing financial challenges can enjoy a holiday meal.
Residents in need can pre-register to receive a basket filled with essential Thanksgiving foods. Registration is limited to one basket per household/address, and proof of Mount Rainier residency will be required at pick-up. Residents already registered through local schools or senior communities should not register again. Registration will close once the available baskets are allocated.
Distribution Details:
Date: Tuesday, November 25
Time: 12 PM – 5:30 PM
Location: Mount Rainier Police Department, 3249 Rhode Island Ave, Mount Rainier, MD 20712
The program thrives through community donations and volunteers. Residents can drop off food donations during City Hall office hours. Requested items include gravy, stuffing, rice, corn, cornbread mix, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and masa harina.
The City is also seeking volunteers to help assemble, pack, and distribute baskets on November 25, with the greatest need between 7 AM and 11 AM. Those interested in volunteering may contact communications@mountrainiermd.org.
Through this program, the City of Mount Rainier reaffirms its commitment to ensuring that every neighbor has a reason to give thanks this holiday season.
