08-07-2025 RhodeIslandMural2025-48The City of Mount Rainier proudly unveiled “Ripple”, a new public art landmark, during a ribbon-cutting ceremony that brought together neighbors, artists, and city leaders. The mural, designed by the 3711 Studios Artist Collective and led by local muralist Austin D. Morris, transforms the exterior of 3510 Rhode Island Avenue into a vibrant, welcoming gateway to the city.

Led by the Mount Rainier Arts Commission, the newest public art is part of the City’s Mural Project, adding to the city’s growing collection of artworks that reflect its vibrant artistic community. The project was launched in November 2024 with a call for artists. From numerous submissions, 3711 Studios was awarded the project after garnering 57% of the community vote. Their design, “Ripple”, wraps three visible walls of the building in an imaginative celebration of movement, nature, and community, drawing inspiration from community feedback and reflecting Mount Rainier’s identity.

During the ceremony, Mayor Celina Benitez presented Certificates of Recognition to Austin D. Morris and the 3711 Studios Artist Collective for their creative vision. Certificates were also presented to Station 3510 owner Jarrett Hendrix and property owner Daniel Simon for their invaluable support in bringing the project to life.
