On May 14, the City of Mount Rainier unveiled a vibrant new mural created by local artist Shawn Perkins. Located at Rhode Island Avenue, the mural captures the spirit of Mount Rainier’s vibrant, diverse, and creative community.
The City of Mount Rainier’s Department of Economic Development Mural Arts Project, spearheaded by Director Ronald A. Hopkins, was funded through a grant from the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD). This initiative is part of the City’s continued investment in public art and community development.
The unveiling ceremony, led by Mayor Celina Benitez, marked the completion of the project. During the celebration, Mayor Benitez presented certificates to artist Shawn Perkins for his exceptional contribution to the cityscape and to Randy Malwinderpal Randhawa, the owner of the property, for his support of the project.
