On Friday, March 28, the City of Mount Rainier held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the Memorial Streetscape Project.
Mayor Celina Benitez, joined by City Council Members Luke Chesek, Jarrett Stoltzfus, Valerie Woodall, and Danielle Carter, led the ceremony alongside City Manager Kourosh Kamali, representatives from designer Low Impact Development Center and Usource Construction, community members, and City staff, all celebrating this shared achievement.
Mayor Benitez emphasized the power of collaboration in bringing infrastructure projects like Memorial Park to life, highlighting Councilmember Luke Chesek's vision for improving public spaces in Mount Rainier. City Manager Kourosh Kamali played a key role in overseeing the project.

The project was funded through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and grants from the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development and the Maryland Heritage Authority.
