Call for Artists: Mural Project at 3510 Rhode Island Avenue

The Mount Rainier Arts Commission is accepting applications for a building wrap mural located at 3510 Rhode Island Avenue in the City of Mount Rainier, MD. The building is adjacent to a main thoroughfare in Washington, DC, and will be viewed by tens of thousands of commuters daily. Part of the Gateway Arts District, Mount Rainier is home to over 150 art studios that contribute to the enrichment of the community. The artist(s) selected for this project will be awarded $17,500 to complete the project. 

Details:

  • Eligibility: Open to artists and artist-led teams, 18 years or older, who reside or work in Maryland, Washington, D.C., or Northern Virginia. Artists living or working in Mount Rainier, MD, are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Budget: Up to three finalists will receive a $600 stipend to develop a proposal. The selected artist will receive $17,500 to complete the mural, covering all expenses associated with the creation and installation.
  • Deadline to Apply: February 24, 2025.

This mural project is an opportunity for the selected local artist(s) to contribute to the Gateway Arts District and to enrich Mount Rainier's community through public art. We encourage all interested applicants to apply before the deadline.
