The NLC Centennial Roadshow, which includes stops in 100 cities across every region of the United States, spotlights the diversity, resilience, and transformative progress within America’s local communities. On Wednesday, August 28, the roadshow made its highly anticipated stop in Mount Rainier.

"Mount Rainier is honored to join the NLC Centennial Roadshow, showcasing our commitment to local programs, infrastructure projects, and initiatives that bolster our community’s resilience and quality of life," said Mayor Celina Benitez. "Through our partnership with NLC, we are dedicated to continuing our work toward a brighter, more sustainable future for all municipalities by advocating for our communities and directing essential resources to our city."

“It is truly an honor for NLC to visit remarkable municipalities, like the City of Mount Rainier that have made significant contributions to the advancement of local government over the past 100 years,” said Clarence Anthony, CEO and Executive Director of the National League of Cities. “Each of these cities has played a pivotal role in moving our local communities forward and has a unique story that showcases transformative change. As we celebrate and chart a course for the next 100 years, I am more excited than ever for the future of cities, towns, and villages and look forward to continuing important work together.”

During the visit, Mayor Celina Benitez, along with Councilmembers Valerie Woodall and Jarrett Stoltzfus, welcomed NLC, Maryland Municipal League (MML) leadership and Prince George's County Education Board Member. Mayor Benitez led a tour of the city’s downtown, highlighting key infrastructure projects such as the Potts Hall Welcome Center and the Memorial Streetscape Project.
