The City of Mount Rainier is proud to announce that it has been awarded a $10,000 grant through The Chesapeake Bay Trust’s Prince George’s County Stormwater Stewardship Award Program.
The $10,000 funding will facilitate the installation of nine additional pet waste stations across the city, supplementing the existing four stations. These new installations aim to provide residents with convenient access to pet waste bags and help prevent pet waste from polluting our local waterways.
"By increasing the number of pet waste stations in the City by nine, we empower residents with the means to responsibly dispose of pet waste and contribute to a reduction in pollution in our water quality in our community," Mayor Celina Benitez said.
As part of the proposal, the City will involve residents to determine the optimal locations for the new pet waste stations. Residents can share their feedback through a survey on the City’s website.
The City of Mount Rainier extends its gratitude to The Chesapeake Bay Trust and Prince George’s County’s Department of the Environment for promoting and supporting environmental stewardship initiatives.
The Installation of the new pet waste stations is set to begin this summer.
