WSSC: Water Main Replacement Project Update

News Archive Posted on August 03, 2022

In a monthly report, WSSC Water provided an update on the Water Main Replacement Project in Mount Rainier.

On the report, during the month of July, the WSSC Water crew began laying pipe on Rainier Ave. Due to a supply chain inventory shortage of the 10-inch pipe, construction has stopped but is expected to resume in September 2022 when WSSC Water is expecting its next delivery of pipe.  Residents were notified of the delay.

WSSC crew also tied the new main into the existing main in various locations throughout the project’s intersecting streets. Please see the WSSC Monthly Progress Report indicating the progress of the projects. The map includes a legend explaining the four (4) phases of the construction cycle.  The company is expecting 29th Street, Upshur Street and Taylor Street to be paved within the next 45-60 days.
