***CONSTRUCTION ADVISORY***
NEW TRAFFIC PATTERN
AT THE 34TH STREET BRIDGE
Motorists, Cyclists, and Pedestrians Should Be Aware of a New Traffic Pattern on 34th Street between Arundel Road and Buchanan Street.
The Prince George’s County Department of Public Works & Transportation (PGC DPW&T) is near completion of construction efforts and will open traffic to its ultimate configuration on the Allison Street Levee Rehabilitation and 34th Street Bridge Replacement project.
The new traffic pattern is tentatively set to open in the afternoon of Monday, April 11, 2022.
The following are brought to your attention.
- The current traffic pattern features a detour that was implemented to accommodate 2-phase construction of the new bridge structure on 34th Street. Southbound traffic across the bridge is permitted. Northbound traffic is detoured west along Arundel Road, north on 25th Street, to Queens Chapel Road.
- The new traffic pattern involves fully opening the 34th Street Bridge and its approaches to 2-way traffic. Both southbound and northbound motorists and cyclists may use the bridge with 11-foot travel lanes and 7-foot shoulders. Pedestrians may also use both sides of the bridge with 5-foot sidewalks.
- Please be attentive and use caution when navigating a new traffic pattern.
Low Speeds = Safety.
