Board of Elections Certified Two Candidate Nominations for Special Elections

The Mount Rainier Board of Elections (MRBOE) announced on Monday, March 14 through a virtual meeting, two certified candidates for the upcoming special elections to fill the vacant councilmember seat in ward 2 of the City of Mount Rainier. 

Nichole Logan, Mount Rainier Board of Elections Supervisor, announced that the board received and confirmed nomination positions for Valerie Woodall and Toni George. 

Logan thanked both candidates for their commitment to serve the City of Mount Rainier and their constituents.  “It takes courage and commitment to dedicate your time and resources to serve and we applaud both of you for your commitment and service,”  Logan said.

MRBOE also announced the order of the names in which the names will appear on the ballot. Valerie Woodall will appear first on the ballot, followed by Toni George. 

The candidates are expected to attend the virtual candidate forum scheduled on April 13 at 7 p.m. with the Mount Rainier Business Association. Mount Rainier residents are also encouraged to attend the virtual forum to get to know the candidates, their programs and priorities when elected to the legislative seat. 

The Special Election will be held at the Mount Rainier Recreation and Nature Center on April 25 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Registered voters can also request an absentee ballot by filling out an application for an absentee ballot.
