Celebrate Black History Month

Every year, the Nation celebrates Black History Month during the month of February. During the Black History Month, we honor the heritage of African Americans and highlight the achievements and contributions of African American in shaping our history.
Throughout the City and the County, there are numerous events to commemorate and celebrate the history and culture of the African American community.
February 1 at 9:30 am - City of Mount Rainier Flag Raising Ceremony at City Hall
February 1 at 3 pm - Stem for Families "Mae Among the Stars" at the Mount Rainier Library
February 5 at 2 pm - Black History Month Exhibition "Black Resistance" Opening Reception, Department of Parks and Recreation
February 7 at 6:30 pm - The Life and Legacy of Harriet Tubman Presented by Cortenia Smith at Joe's Movement Emporium
February 17 at 7 pm - Movie Night - The Last Black Man in San Francisco at Joe's Movement Emporium
