The Special Election for the next Councilmember is scheduled on April 25, 2022. Registered voters of ward 2 will be heading to the polls located at the Mount Rainier Recreation Center, 4701 31st Pl, Mt Rainier, MD 20712 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Any qualified voter registered to vote either in the State of Maryland or with the City of Mount Rainier, MD, may also vote by Absentee Ballot. A qualified voter desiring to vote during the City elections as an Absentee Voter shall submit an application to the Mount Rainier Board of Elections (MRBOE) in writing. The application must be received no later than the Monday before the election, Monday, April 18, 2022.

There are two candidates running for the legislative seat – Valerie Woodall and Toni George. A virtual candidate forum hosted by the Mount Rainier Business Association (MRBA) is set on April 13 at 7 p.m. for community members to get to know both candidates, their platforms, and plans when elected as the next Councilmember of Ward 2.
