CITY EMPLOYEES VACCINE MANDATE TO BE ENFORCED BEGINNING OF THE YEAR

MOUNT RAINIER, MD  (December 8, 2021) –  Mayor Celina Benitez and  Council, and approved Resolution No. 08-2021  requiring all City employees to become fully vaccinated by January 1, 2022. 

The vaccination mandate for City employees hoped to encourage City employees to get vaccinated in order to protect the safety and health of the workforce and the communities they serve throughout the pandemic. Per the resolution, employees are required to submit their vaccination status to the Human Resources Director before January 1, 2022. Those who are not fully vaccinated must submit to weekly Covid-19 testing and provide negative results to be allowed to report to work. 

Employees who do not submit their vaccination status and do not comply with the City’s weekly testing option will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.
