Holiday Events in the City Centered on Helping the Community

The City of Mount Rainier is gearing up for two major Holiday events to celebrate the season of giving!

One of the city's biggest events is the Holiday Food Distribution set on December 16, 2021. Mayor Celina Benitez and the City Council will be distributing Holiday Baskets to Mount Rainier residents in need. The City hopes to bring some holiday cheer to residents and families of the city by providing a simple meal to share during the Holiday season.

During the pandemic in 2020, the city government and community members came together to support residents who lost their livelihoods through food distributions.

The basket, which will be filled with turkey or ham, dessert items, rice, mashed potato, and green beans, will feed a family of four. The Mayor and the Council still continue to serve members of the community who still find difficulty putting meals on their tables through weekly food distribution.

“We have volunteers, we receive donations from Capital Area Food Bank and individuals. The community is really coming together to help each other in Mount Rainier.” Mayor Benitez said.

Following the big holiday distribution, on December 18th, Mayor Benitez and the Council will host The Picture with Santa Event at the Mount Rainier Nature Center. The event aims to bring families together, distribute toys to families in need and provide an opportunity to have a professional photograph with Santa.
