Application for Property Tax Credit Deadline is April 1

Property Tax Credit Mount Rainier Maryland

The City offers a property tax credit to eligible homeowners through the Property Tax Credit for Seniors and Military Retirees Program.

To qualify, a homeowner must:

  • Have lived in the same dwelling for at least thirty (30) years
  • Own a property with a maximum assessed value of $700,000

The program provides a 20% credit on City property taxes for owner-occupied dwellings only. The credit is granted for five (5) consecutive years and is not available after that five-year period.

The deadline for applications for the current fiscal year is April 1.
