Solar Energy Installation Update: Reducing Cost and Carbon Footprint

The City of Mount Rainier is proud to announce that solar installations at the Police Department, Public Works, Code Enforcement Department/Library, and Malinda Miles Building have been completed, commissioned, passed final inspection, and are now fully operational. Installation at the Potts Hall Welcome Center has also been completed and is awaiting Pepco’s operational permit. The project was supported by nearly $410,000 in funding from the Maryland Energy Administration’s Public Facilities Solar Grant Program, demonstrating the City’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, renewable energy, and resilient public infrastructure.

The City of Mount Rainier’s Code Compliance Department is currently reviewing Fiscal Year 2026 business license permit renewals. All City-issued business licenses expire on February 28 following the year they were issued and must be renewed before the expiration date to continue operating legally in the City of Mount Rainier.
