City Administrative Offices Relocate to City Hall After Potts Hall/Welcome Center Renovations

Pott Hall/Welcome Center Renovations Completed

The City of Mount Rainier has officially relocated its Administrative Offices following the completion of the renovation of historic Potts Hall/Welcome Center, the City’s largest capital improvement project to date.

This nearly $7 million investment modernizes one of Mount Rainier’s oldest buildings while creating a more welcoming, accessible, and service-focused space for the community. Construction began in March 2023 under the leadership of City Manager Kourosh Kamali, with strong support from Mayor Celina Benitez and the Mount Rainier City Council.

A Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will be held to celebrate this milestone. Event details will be announced soon.

City Announces 34th Street Mural Arts Project Winning Design

Mural Arts Project Winning Design

The City of Mount Rainier is excited to announce the winning design for the 34th Street Mural Arts Project. After two rounds of online and in-person community voting, followed by a final City review to ensure alignment with feasibility and design guidelines, the design by local artist Jay F. Coleman has been selected.

Coleman’s powerful artwork features Muhammad Ali, a global icon celebrated for his courage, resilience, and humanitarian spirit. Through bold color and compelling storytelling, Coleman’s work activates public spaces and will transform 34th Street into a visual landmark that celebrates public art, inclusivity, and community resilience.

The City thanks community members who voted and supported this project.
