Temporary Road Closures in Effect this Saturday, Dec. 6 for the Sweaty Sweater Fun Run

The Annual Sweaty Sweater Fun Run will be held this Saturday, Dec. 6, at Memorial Park. To ensure the safety of all participants, temporary road closures near Memorial Park will be in effect from  8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The race begins at 9:00 a.m.

Holiday magic fills the air on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 11:30 a.m. as students from our local schools join our Santa Cops from the City of Mount Rainier Police Department for a festive shopping spree! The annual Shop with a Cop event brings joy and brightens the holiday season for children in our community. Electronics Recycling

The City hosts its Electronics Recycling Event on Saturday, December 20, at the Public Works Department office, located at 3715 Wells Ave, Mount Rainier, MD, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mount Rainier residents may bring their old, broken, and unused electronics for safe recycling.  This quarterly event helps ensure electronic waste is recycled responsibly, protecting our community and our planet.

Funded by the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development’s Main Street Improvement Program, this project supports the City’s ongoing revitalization efforts.

Composting is easy and can be done using everyday household items that are already part of your waste stream, such as food scraps and yard trimmings. By signing up, residents will receive a free composting bin and become part of a community effort that reduces waste and supports our green efforts.

Coat Drive

Community members are invited to donate new and gently used winter coats, along with new socks and mittens, at the City of Mount Rainier Police Department for its annual Coat Drive. All collected items will be distributed to local families and individuals facing hardship.
