The City of Mount Rainier and Design Consultant Low Impact Development Center (LIDC) invite residents to an on-site follow-up Community Conversation on the 31st Street and Perry Street Intersection Improvement Project – Phase 2 on Saturday, September 6, at 11 am. As construction enters its next phase, this is a valuable opportunity for community members to learn about project updates, ask questions, and share input directly with the project team. Community feedback continues to play a vital role in shaping the design and implementation of this important neighborhood improvement.

City of Mount Rainier Back to School Fair

The City of Mount Rainier invites young learners and their families to the 2025 Back-to-School Fair on Wednesday, August 20, from 4 pm to 8 pm at the Mount Rainier Nature Center! Organized and led by our Social Services Coordinator, in partnership with the Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation, the event offers free school supplies and gently used clothing for students.

Recreation Activities Grant Application Now Open

Applications are now open for the Mount Rainier Recreation Activities Grant for Fiscal Year 2026. Organizations can get up to $2500 in reimbursable funding to support programs, events, or activities in Mount Rainier that bring residents together in a fun environment.  

Application Deadline 1 – Friday, November 14, 2025; Announcement to follow in December 

Application Deadline 2 – Friday, March 13, 2026; Announcement to follow in April 

 Applications will be reviewed by the Mount Rainier Recreation Committee.

Free Trees Program by the City of Mount Rainier

The City of Mount Rainier Tree Commission is partnering with Joe’s GreenWorks program for a second year to plant trees that clean our air, filter our water, beautify our neighborhood, and reduce flooding.  Mount Rainier residents can sign up for a street or yard tree to be planted in the Fall.
