Work continues for the City's Safe Streets Initiatives, the week of July 28, weather permitting, at the following locations:


ADA Curb Ramp Installation and Crosswalk Striping:
  • Bunker Hill Road & 30th Street 
  • Bunker Hill Road & 32nd Street 
  • Bunker Hill Road & 33rd Street 
  • Bunker Hill Road & 37th Street 
  • Queenstown Drive 
  • 30th Street (between Upshur Street and Bunker Hill Road) 

Temporary sidewalk closures and parking restrictions may be in effect during this time.

Unscheduled Mosquito Spraying Planned for July 30 in Mount Rainier

Maryland Mosquito Control Program

The Maryland Department of Agriculture, in coordination with the Prince George’s County Health Department, will conduct unscheduled mosquito spraying in Mount Rainier and nearby areas on Wednesday, July 30, due to public health concerns. While the City does not participate in routine spraying, the state may act when mosquito-borne disease risks are present.

Pepco Customer Relief Fund

Beginning July 18, eligible residents may apply for Pepco Customer Relief Fund,  a one-time relief assistance that provides financial support for those challenged by high energy costs. Qualified residential customers in the Pepco service area may receive up to $300 that will be directly credited on their bill.

 Pepco customers will receive relief in the form of up to $300 per household.

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Mural Project on 3510 Rhode Island Avenue Mount Rainier

The City of Mount Rainier announces the unveiling of the Mount Rainier Mural Project, a bold and beautiful public art piece located along Rhode Island Avenue. This community-driven project, spearheaded by the City of Mount Rainier Arts Commission, celebrates the power of arts in transforming public spaces and highlights the city’s creative spirit through vibrant imagery designed by 3711 Studios Collective!   

The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place on Thursday, August 7, at 4:30 PM, where residents and visitors celebrate the completion of the project, meet the artists, and learn more about the mural’s themes and creative process.

The City of Mount Rainier invites young learners and their families to the 2025 Back-to-School Fair on Wednesday, August 20, from 4 pm to 8 pm at the Mount Rainier Nature Center! Organized and led by our Social Services Coordinator, in partnership with the Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation, the event offers free school supplies and gently used clothing for students.
