CITY OF MOUNT RAINIER TO CELEBRATE COMPLETION OF MEMORIAL PARK STREETSCAPE PROJECT WITH RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY

The City of Mount Rainier is celebrating a major milestone! Join us on March 28 at 3 PM for the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony marking the completion of the Memorial Park Streetscape Project. This significant infrastructure project revitalizes the 3300-3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue and Perry Street, enhancing the area with new pavers and upgraded walkways, landscaping, seating, and enhanced gathering spaces. The project also features bioretention areas to effectively manage stormwater runoff and promote environmental sustainability. This investment in our community represents a major step toward fostering a thriving and welcoming downtown and boosting business activity.

The Mount Rainier Board of Elections is hosting a Voter Registration Drive on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 9 am to 11 am at Mixt Food Hall. 

The 2025 City Election is set for May 5, 2025.

The Mount Rainier Board of Elections will assist residents with the registration process and answer any questions about the electoral process.

FOR ELDERLY AND MILITARY RETIREES

The City of Mount Rainier offers a Property Tax Credit for eligible senior homeowners and veterans.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Homeowners must have resided in the same dwelling for at least 30 years.
• The dwelling must have a maximum assessed value of $700,000.
• The credit is available only for owner-occupied dwellings.
• A 20% credit on City property taxes is granted for 5 consecutive years.
• The credit is not available after the 5-year period.

JOIN THE BUDGET PUBLIC HEARING AND 

COUNCIL WORK SESSION ON MARCH 22

The City will conduct a Budget Public Hearing on Saturday, March 22, at 9 a.m. The public may attend virtually to comment on the Proposed FY 2026 Budget. The meeting link will be posted on the City's website calendar.

CHIEF LINWOOD ALSTON SWORN IN AS PRESIDENT OF POLICE CHIEFS' ASSOCIATION OF PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY

Mount Rainier Police Department Chief Linwood C. Alston has been officially sworn in as the President of the 2025 Executive Board for the Police Chiefs’ Association of Prince George’s County (PCAPGC). For a one-year term, Chief Alston will serve alongside a distinguished team of law enforcement leaders from across the County.
