The City of Mount Rainier rolls out round 2 of the Youth Scholarship Program for the 2024-2025 school year. The Mayor and Council will award 7 deserving students a $3000 scholarship grant to assist their education journey.

ORDINANCE REMINDER: LEASH YOUR DOG

Ordinance Reminder: Leash Your Dog

By city ordinance, it is strictly prohibited for any dog to be in public spaces—including streets, sidewalks, roadways, alleys, or private property—without being restrained by a leash or lead no longer than six (6) feet. The leash must be controlled by a person capable of managing the dog at all times.

School Zone Safety

The City of Mount Rainier is committed to ensuring the safety of all students as they travel to and from school. School zones are busy, high-traffic areas, particularly during morning drop-offs between 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. and afternoon pickups between 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.  The City and the school community remind everyone to drive mindfully and slowly through school zones during school hours to ensure the safety of our children.

Eastern Avenue Safety

PROPOSED SAFETY CHANGES ON EASTERN AVENUE:  YOUR INPUT MATTERS

The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is proposing safety improvements for Eastern Avenue, between 30th Street and Russell Avenue.Residents, your feedback is crucial!  Review DDOT’s Notice of Intent and submit your comments by November 19. 

Home Repair Program October 25 Deadline

LAST CHANCE TO APPLY FOR THE CITY'S HOME REPAIR PROGRAM

The deadline to apply for the  Home Repair Program is Oct. 25.  Eligible households may receive up to $7500 to address essential home repairs that improve both the safety and functionality of homes. 

Curbside Leaf Collection Schedule

CURBSIDE LEAF COLLECTION SCHEDULE UPDATE

Starting November 5th, the Department of Public Works will begin its website curbside collection schedule by area. Check the map to find your updated schedule and collection zone.

Compost Bin Delivery Reminder

The City has recently launched its Organic Recycling Program. For residents who have already opted in, the Department of Public Works will be distributing bins on October 29th and 31st.

For those who have not yet registered, the City encourages you to take advantage of this environmentally friendly initiative. Join us in promoting sustainability by opting in today.
