Two public elementary schools serve Mount Rainier, Mount Rainier Elementary School and Thomas Stone Elementary School. Mount Rainier Elementary is located 4011 32nd Street while Thomas Stone is located at 4500 34th Street. Both schools are run by the Prince George's County government, as are all Prince George's County schools.

The use of classrooms, gymnasiums, auditoriums, cafeterias, and conference rooms by to non-profit community groups and organizations is not only allowed, but encouraged.
