Mount Rainier Town Center Design Review Committee

The Mount Rainier Town Center Design Review Committee is appointed by the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) to review applications for exterior changes to properties within the city's Mixed-Use Town Center zone, which encompasses most of the businesses on Rhode Island Avenue and on 34th Street. The committee uses the guidelines set up by M-NCPPC to evaluate proposed changes to awnings, signs, lighting, landscaping, and other exterior changes. The six-member committee is made up of two residents, two business or property owners, and two representatives of the city's government. The City Council makes recommendations for membership to the committee, but the M-NCPPC has the final say. Likewise, the committee is advisory only, with final zoning decisions made by the M-NCPPC.
